Terror in America

From the words of America’s greatest enemy, Al Qaeda:

“Be prepared to suffer because the killing is coming and we prepared you men who love death just as you love life. And by God’s permission, we will come to you with more things that you have never seen before because, as you kill, you will be killed and tomorrow is coming soon.”

That’s only part of the threat against our sacred America. Such a strong threat stated with conviction makes one wonder what has America done to receive such a threat? Mainstream media has reported the threats and Christmas day terror act are a direct relation to US air strikes on Al Qaeda in Yemen. Mainstream media has given us (Americans) a front row seat to view terror taking place all over the world…especially in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. We’ve seen images of other countries’ corrupt government, deadly street riots, and the devastating aftermath of suicide bombings.

As you may know, there are two sides to every story. The other side is across enemy lines. We have yet to see the images of attacks carried out by our very own troops. America has always played the “super hero” role when it comes to war. America has entered countless wars on behalf of other countries to protect others from terror. And a great job our troops have done combating terror outside of American boarders. However, it appears that America has been so focused on protecting its neighbors that it left its own house unattended. 8 years after the tragic 9/11 terrorist attack yet another potential terrorist attack reached American soil. Like the 9/11 attacks, the Department of Homeland Security was given knowledge that could have prevented such attacks.

23-year old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the alleged "Christmas Day Bomber"

The alleged “Christmas Day Bomber” 23-year old Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab boarded a plane in Amsterdam headed to Detroit with 80 pounds of a powdered explosive substance sewn inside his underwear. Abdulmutallab’s attempt to terrorize America has shed light on the Department of Homeland Security’s lack of ability to protect Americans. From this incident we have learned that more than a month before Christmas on November 19th Abdulmatallab’s father went to the US embassy in-person to notify US officials about his son’s affiliation with anti-American terrorism. After the US received intelligence of Abdulmatallab’s link to terrorism from a reliable source; his own father, Abdulmutallab was put on a terrorist “watch list” but was not restricted from flying. Terrorist suspect Abdulmutallab got through US customs and security with a one way ticket paid for in cash, no luggage and most shockingly without a passport. Fortunately Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s evil plot was defeated by courageous passengers on Flight 253. Here’s what one of the flight 253 passengers had to say:

JASPER SCHURINGA, PASSENGER, FLIGHT 253:

“When I saw that suspect, he was getting on fire and I freaked, of course. And I — without any agitation, I just jumped over all the seats. I jumped to the suspect and because I was thinking like he’s trying to blow up the plane. And so, you know, I was trying to search his body for any explosives, and then I took some kind of object. It was already melting and smoking out of him. And I tried to put out the fire. And then when I did that, I was also restraining the suspect.”

Bomb specialists conclude that a minor technical glitch was the only thing that kept the bomb from exploding. America prides itself on safeguarding other nations from terror. In light of the attempted “Christmas Day Bomber” America must now more than ever strengthen its homeland security. If you don’t take anything from this article; understand that America is in harms way. May God bless America…and everybody else.
